Fish North of us!
Greetings from Capt. Dave & BAYMEN!
Fish reported NORTH of us this morning. All migrants. This type of thing happens every few years. We are not getting anything here in our local bays, but they are into fish miles north of our position. Kind of like tuna fishing!
My theory is just simple facts: 1) Fish could be here but nobody has ventured out to look for them “too early” “still too cold” etc., etc. I have said these exact words myself in some years past. 2) For some reason, most likely bait driven or water temp driven, the striped bass blow right past our bays and keep running north for another 15- 30 miles before holding up for short time. 3) Bass migrate inshore in the Spring and offshore in the Fall. But maybe some spring fish migrate further offshore than we realize and then cut to Boston and cut due West into the harbor.
Whatever the reasons, the facts are truth and absolutes. There are fish north of us this morning. I am still waiting for warm, dry days to finish up some paint work. As soon as that is wrapped, I am done with all spring prep and it is full steam ahead for six solid months of fishing.
