Clamming Trips
Hardshell Clam Day yesterday. We had to dig fast on a low + 1.1 tide. Only half the flats or less were bare at dead low. But with three of us working the flats, we got it done pretty quick. We steamed up the little top necks back at the house and had quite a lunch. We are now chopping the larger quahogs into tiny pieces, adding seasoning and bread crumbs and bacon bits, and will repack them back into the half-shells for “baked quahogs on the half-shell.” A true New England treat.
If you would like to learn how to clam, I offer a limited number of guided clamming trips on the MA South Shore, on the low tides. Shoot me an e-mail for details and open dates. Gift certificates are available for all our charters and guide services – Capt. Dave, BAYMEN, baymenlife.com 31 Years Guiding The Bay. Soli Deo Gloria!
