Fun Clamming Trip!
Greetings from Capt. Dave & Baymen!
We were clamming on the flats this morning. A nice break from the fishing before the Fall Run starts any moment now…
Clamming with me today I had a client from Connecticut for his first time ever out on the flats. He picked it up right away and filled a ten quart basket with hardshells.
Nice mix of clams today on this particular flat. 20% were Bigs, 10-15% were seed, and about 65% or so where perfect eating size: Selects, little necks, cherry stones, and top neck.
Cool and overcast with a .6 low and a light ENE breeze. I actually wore a flannel over my guide shirt. Air temps were around 60 degrees. A perfect morning to dig clams on the flats!
Back to guided fishing tomorrow. The Fall Run typically is underway by August 25, give or take a few days. So, we are getting close…
