Duck Season Over For Another Year…
Greetings from Capt. Dave & BAYMEN!
The 2024/2025 duck season is over for another year. We had some wonderful times on the water, in the duck blinds, canoe, and TDB with clients, friends, and family. Now, it is time to get all the gear cleaned up and stowed away and turn all of our attention to the 2025 fishing season.
Baymen kicks off the 2025 striped bass season in early to mid-May. We always run some “short money” recon trips in search of early bass passing through our waters as they migrate north to the Canadian Maritimes. If you scroll back through our Baymen Reports, you can relive some of our most enjoyable days on the water with Fly Rod & Light Tackle. My Striped Bass Charters are booked solid for all of 2025 and 2026 seasons. Thank you so much to all my awesome clients and friends. I am entering my 32nd year as a full-time guide. I will share more on my future plans in another Baymen Report soon.
Spring Trout Season will kick off as soon as we have ice out and the state begins the annual spring trout stocking, typically early March. Each spring the state releases around 500,000 trout into our waters throughout Massachusetts. Brookies, browns, rainbows and tigers.
Spring Turkey kicks off in May, about the same time the striped bass show in our bay. Also, clamming season will be in full swing as soon as temps warm up and the mud is soft enough to dig. I will do winter clamming trips on the low minus tides if temps are warm enough. I should note I have a very limited number of open clamming dates. E-mail to inquire what I have available.
Well, that’s the quick update. I hope your duck season went well and you are having a wonderful winter. Over my long career, I have had clients invite me to the four corners of the world to fly fish for just about every species that swims. But I have kindly turned down most of them because I am a rock solid, stone wall New England Yankee. There is just so much of the world to see and enjoy right outside my door and I don’t want to miss a thing.
Until my next Baymen Report, here’s to wishing you great adventures and safe travels.
Sincerely,
Capt. Dave, BAYMEN, www.baymenlife.com 32 Years Guiding The Bay. Still In Love.
Soli Deo Gloria!
