Baymen Report – May 8 – Found Fish
Greetings from Capt. Dave & BAYMEN!
At first light today, seas were calm, water and air temps matched at 52 degrees, sunny, rising tide. Just a gorgeous morning.
I found four small schools of striped bass passing through the bay on their way north in the migration. Nothing to write home about, but they were the first schools I have seen so far this season. I expect things to quiet back down with ENE coming tonight and of course, for the weekend. NOAA calling for some rain and seas 2-3. Check the forecast for the latest info.
Other signs of life around the bay this morning included deer, rabbits, brant, willets, osprey, eiders, black duck… The lilacs and lily of the valley are in bloom putting out some of nature’s finest perfume. No sign of whales, seals or dolphins.
My first regular season charters kick off Tuesday. I am still offering pre-season RECON trips (shorter trips to find the first fish at half the price with no guarantees). E-mail if you want to get out for RECON or regular season. I am booked up solid but can make room for a few more trips in the the typically slower parts of the season. Spring and Fall charters book two years in advance.
That’s the word for today. Things will bust wide open soon and the season will be off and running full speed. I will post my daily Baymen Reports right here, so check back to get the latest news. Let’s hope for a big Spring Blitz. See you out there.
Sincerely,
Capt. David Bitters, Baymen Guide Service, Inc. www.baymenlife.com 32 Years Guiding The Bay.
Soli Deo Gloria!
