19 Fish, 2 Keepers to 17 lbs, Light Tackle
Greetings from BAYMEN & Capt. Dave!
On board today, regulars, Gary Condon and Greg Powers who have been fishing with me for many years. We were not expecting much today after yesterday’s slow morning and lack of fish in the bay, and today was forecasted to be SE and rain…
At first light, a dead-calm bay, – 0.9 low tide, and overcast with no rain and a wisp of South wind – near perfect conditions for the Spring Blitz striped bass morning!
Well, there was no Spring Blitz today and very few fish inside the bay but more than yesterday. We began at low tide by fishing th cuts and guzzles for fish holding on structure. We found several and they were finicky, chasing and smacking our topwater Intent Tackle Poppers but not taking them, just playing with them just like yesterday! Again, it took patience and persistence and we began to hook up on fish.
We moved around a lot today and fish ten of my top producing spots on an incoming tide. Many of the spots had zero fish even though conditions looked perfect. But many of my other spots held a few fish in each of them and we landed a bunch on poppers, a few on Baymen Jigs, and a few on rubber crank baits. Gary landed a fine slot keeper dinner fish and Greg landed a 34″ inch 17 pound over slot “keeper” that got his picture taken and then released. That fish like most fish today, were landed on Intent Tackle Coast Poppers and super spooks. Nothing beats the excitement of shallow water topwater striped bass fishing!
Total catch and release today was 19 fish, 2 keepers, all in light tackle.
Back at it. STAY POSTED:
