12 Pounder In 4 fow!
Greetings from BAYMEN & Capt. Dave
On board today, one of my regulars, Baymen Dick Bowman, USMC, who has been fishing with me for many years. Wishing the Marine Happy Birthday – he just celebrated the big “81” !
At first light, a low -.4 minus tide, overcast, and a cold SW wind. No birds working, no topwater, and almost no fish marked on the sonar. Typical for a SW in our bay. We did find a small school of bass in one of my spots that did not want to eat. They would crash the topwater tackle and ignore it. Two fish grabbed it but spit it.
We found a handful of very fast run and gun fish up on a flat, but it was hard to get on them and another boat and a Kayak were trying to work them as well so we landed a couple and moved on.
It was a structure fish day and hit some of the classic spots on my list. Nobody home. We concentrated on Plymouth and Duxbury Bays and did not fish Kingston bay today. It looked pretty quiet like the rest of the bay. At one point, we decided to fish some structure that finally got covered in water on the incoming tide and found a very nice fish holding four feet of water… WHAM! Fish On! A very nice fight and just a lovely light tackle striped bass!
We ended the morning with 3 fish: a pair of 27’s and a 32. All the fish we have been seeing moved out of the bay on the SW. Every day is different, and no two tides are the same.
Back at it. STAY POSTED:
