Injury Update
Greetings from Baymen Guide Service, Inc!
Two weeks ago today, on September 19th, I slipped on the Duxbury town pier ramp that leads to the main dock. I caught myself as I was going down, with my left hand, and dislocated my left shoulder. I got the charter done and even tried to get the next few done but the pain was great. To make matters worse, I had ligament damage and could not raise my left arm more than 15 degrees.
But the worse part was, now not being able to use my left arm and left shoulder, I fell on the same shoulder while trying to launch my boat for another charter at 5:00am one morning. I think my Jeremiah Johnson scream was heard all the way down Washington street. But I got that charter done, pain and all. After that, I just could not do another one and was forced to refund some trips and roll the remaining trips into my 2017 season.
I am currently out of the arm sling and doing PT daily, trying to avoid surgery. It is very painful, but it could be a lot worse. In another week, I have a review to check on my progress and to take another look to see if there is more damage that needs to be addressed (aka surgery).
I appreciate everyone’s calls, e-mails and concerns. I will bounce back from this sooner or later and am already looking forward to Spring Blitz 2017! All those 27″ inch fish this season are going to be back in the low 30″‘s next year, and the year after that, I predict it is going to be big fish mania!
Tight lines and see you (around) the water!
Sincerely,
Capt. Dave, BAYMEN, www.baymenlife.com
