Dozen Fish
On board today I had regular, Billy Tedeschi and Ed from Idaho, for light tackle striped bass.
The morning started out pretty flat with some decent topwater action on small fish. We had one 36″ chase to the boat but would not take. After fishing topwater, we switched up to Baymen Jigs and hit some deeper water. Most of the spots were void of bait and bass. But one place did have a school of about a hundred fish (!) on the bottom, moving out with the tide. One drift and we could not find that school again. We looked hard but they had moved out.
Back to topwater with poppers over structure, weed beds, and tight to shore. We landed a few more small fish as the winds started to crank out of the south. One last spot of the morning, a narrow guzzle, gave up one more fish.
With the winds at our back, we headed back in just ahead of the rain. A lovely morning on the bay. We are hoping some bigger fish move in and things pick up in a tide or two. Stay posted. We have roughly two more months of fishing on our bay. Then its on to hunting season.
