27 Fish
On board today, I had Richard Bowman for Light Tackle striped bass!
Gorgeous morning, flat-calm almost the whole time. At first light, we were into topwater fish with a handful of boats in the Cow Yard.
Then, a major blitz of schooled bass turned on right beside Bug Light and TWENTY boats fished side-by-side, sometimes just a few feet from each other! Welcome to July fishing on the bay LOL… But seriously, everybody was very well skilled in boat handling and fishing and it looked like everybody was constantly hooked up – including us!
After the the big Bug Light Blitz calmed down, Dick and I started searching the bay for new fish. We found a few on topwater over some structure and picked up two more. Then, we worked the bay from Gurnet Light to Crescent Beach to deep up into Kingston and back into Duxbury. ZIP! All the bait and bass left with the dropping tide.
On the way in, we fished some of the Oyster Grants and picked up a few more fish still hanging around.
Total catch and release today was 27 striped bass. We landed fish on Baymen Jigs, a weighted Rubber crank bait rigged by Dick, and topwater poppers. Another great morning with another great client!
I am officially on vacation now, taking some much needed time off to spend with the family. You will probably see us on the bay – fishing!
Happy Independence Day. I thank God first and foremost, our forefathers, and our soldiers past and present for my freedom in America!
God bless and have a great weekend of celebration!
Sincerely,
Capt. Dave, BAYMEN www.baymenlife.com
