“Charlie’s Fly”
At least ten years ago, maybe longer, angler Charlie Sears of Kingston, tied me this fly. I think Charlie called it “Charlie’s 76” because he he caught 76 stripers on this on fly. I just call it “Charlie’s Fly” and it is a great pattern for striped bass, especially when they are finicky and not slamming topwater bait.
I don’t have the recipe, but if you are a fly tyer, its easy enough to figure by studying the photo. Tie some up and keep these in your box for when the stripers won’t take anything. They will take “Charlie’s Fly.”
