87 fish, 2 keepers
Instense morning of fishing on the bay today! On board I had repeat clients, Chris and Molly DeVillers for light tackle.
At first light, a ton of fish came into the bay on the top of the tide. Schools of a 1.5 inch silver minnows with an olive backs came inside and the bass were right behind them. It was non-stop topwater action for about four hours straight! Multiple schools of fish were all around the bay from Duxbury to Plymouth. Molly hooked up on our biggest bass of the day in 8 fow, that slammed a top-water popper and gave a great fight. Bass were so aggressive, that two stripers slammed Chris’s popper at the same time – and both got hooked up!
Tackle today – it all worked. Top-water poppers, sub-surface rubber cranks and Baymen Jigs down deep. Find the bass and they would hit our tackle. Total catch and release today was a whopping 87 striped bass, including two keepers, all on light tackle. Amazing morning on a dead-calm sea and a light south wind with overcast conditions. Perfect!
