19 Striped Bass
Wednesday, June 17, 2015
On board today I had new client, Adam Laware, Paul and Drew for light tackle striped bass.
At first light, the winds were North at 7-13 knots. Shortly after, they picked up to 15-20 and did not let up all morning. Seas were a choppy 2-3 and we got bounced around pretty good. But we found fish at our first spot of the morning and did well on my Baymen Jig and rubber crank baits.
Later in the morning, we tried to find some quieter water to hide in but it was no use. The winds were relentless and we just kept doing the best we could, fishing topwater poppers on the flats and low tide channels. We could not fish the guzzles due to the wind. We could not fish a lot of the bay due to wind! But Adam & Co. were relentless and kept fishing hard right to the end.
As the morning wore on, the bite slowed and then shut off. We ended with a total of 19 fish caught and released on light tackle. A great morning on a very windy and choppy bay.
