53 Fish on LT
On board today, I had regulars, Ken Hartshorn, Frank Harrington, and Frank’s sons Greg and Brian for light tackle striped bass.
At first light, thick dense fog covered the bay. We did not see land for the first hour or more and worked the shoreline from the Beach Channel to Gurnet Creek to Clark’s Island before it began to clear. We found a scattering of fish to 27 3/4 inches in shallow waters of about four feet. Those fish hit our topwater tackle and subsurface rubber crank baits.
As the fog began to burn off, we headed for the main channel and Brown’s Bank. No fish on Brown’s today. From there, we ran to Plymouth waters and found fish in several of my spots, including up on the flats, in the channels and in tiny rips scattered about the bay. We switched over to all topwater and the bass crushed them! What a blast watching chase downs and blow ups in the skinny water of just a few feet!
We ended out morning with 53 striped bass caught and released. We saw a few seals, including a very big gray seal up o the flats over Brown’s Bank. No sign of GW, but you know they are there filtering in and out of the bay unnoticed. Top tackle today: Spooks and Rubber crank baits up to 5″ inches. All the fish had sea lice and all were wide and fat bass to 27 3/4 inches. A wonderful day on mostly flat seas. A little choppy coming in with a NNE chop and fog.
Back at it. STAY POSTED:
