50 Fish
On board today I had regular client, Billy Tedeschi, for LT striped bass.
At first light it was a stunning sunrise on dead-calm seas, and a dead low tide. As the tide began to slowly turn, fish started working over the flats in six inches of water!
Today, we saw more bait in the bay than we have seen all season! Baits two inches to twelve inches were over the flats, hiding in the eel grass beds.
With the rising tide, schooled bass came into the bay and it was not long before they found the baits. It looked like a classic mini fall blitz! We had three to four schools of fish working within a 500 to 1,000 yard area most of the morning and it kept getting better and better as the tide rose over the flats.
We ended the morning with FIFTY (50) striped bass to 27″ inches on light tackle. Yo-zuri poppers, rubber shads, and a Savage Real Eeel (thanks Dick Bowman!). A great start to the fall run!
Tight Lines,
Capt. Dave
