26 Fish
On board today,I had repeat client,Dick Bowman, for light tackle striped bass.
Winds were dead calm all morning with a very light easterly. At first light we were into topwater sight fishing for breaking fish under small flocks of gulls.
Dick lit up his trademark cigar and we were off.
For the first few hours, we found plenty of breaking fish to keep us busy. Nothing big, all short fish, but lots of fun on LT, all inside the bay.
We decided to run to Plymouth through the fog and found another school of bass working bait.
Heavy, dense fog rolled in mid-morning and socked in the bay. We fished shorelines and structure for a while and then the fog lifted. We wrapped up the morning trolling a pair of Savage Real Eels through the cow yard. One hook-up on a decent fish that threw the hook.
We ended the morning with 26 striped bass caught and released. Some big chopper blues are offshore and out front if you are interested. Eight pound gear destroying machines that are wonderful on the grill!
39 more trips to go and our guided fishing on the bay is over for another season.
Tight Lines & stay posted:
