22 Fish, 1 Keepah
On board today, I had repeat clients, Bill Gourley, and his grandson, Joey, for light tackle striped bass.
At first light, it looked like a repeat of yesterday. Gorgeous sunrise, dead-calm, and a rising tide. But yesterday’s fish were long gone and the “blitz” was nowhere to be found.
So, we moved around a lot today. Starting in Duxbury, then over to Kingston, down to Plymouth, and back up to Kingston and then Duxbury again. A handful of fish were skattered all over the bay, mostly in very skinny water of a few feet to about eight feet.
At one point, a huge school of immature shad were feeding south of Clark’s Island. NO bass or blues in sight! So we left them and continued our search.
Late morning, we found a couple of fish alog the Duxbury channel and one of them was a keepah! Joey fished a Heddon Super Spook and hooked and landed that nice fish in about four feet of water.
Our total catch today was 22 striped bass, 1 keepah. All taken on light tackle rubber crank baits, Gibbs pencil popper, and Heddon super spooks.
