35 Fish
On board today, I had repeat clients, Howard Soep & Crew, for blues and striped bass on light tackle. At first light, near calm seas. Yesterday’s wicked north wind was long gone. We were greeted by a lovely sunrise and lots of BIG blues…!
We fished poppers and rangers on wire leaders with light tackle and had incredible blow-ups on the tackle and very hard fights. The blues would run into the security zone and then back out again, eventually dispersing over a half-mile wide area. 34 boats were casting and trolling and everybody was hooking up.
After fishing for blues for a few hours, we cut across Browns Bank and back into Duxbury, Kingston and Plymouth bay where we found a few schools of small striped bass. We switched over the four inch rubber crank baits and mono leaders and landed a bunch.
Total catch today was 35 fish: 20 big blues and 15 small striped bass. A great morning on the bay with my clients!
Back at it as the fall run continues. Stay posted:
