25 Fish, 1 Keeper, Monster Blues Continue!
On board today, I had regular client, Billy Tedeschi, for light tackle striped bass and blues. At Billy’s urging, we departed at dark, forty-five minutes earlier than usual, to beat the East winds promised today just after sunrise.
We made our way to the power plant and as soon as the sun came over the horizon the bluefish bite turned on! BIG choppers are still there and Billy hooked up instantly, as soon as his Yo-Zuri popper hit the water. He got an absolute cow that put up and awesome fight! Seas began to build out of the East and it soon became too rough to stay and we headed back across Browns Bank to Duxbury. Mid-way across, more blues were busting and we stopped to make a few casts and hooked up right away.
Back in the bay, we checked yeserday’s spot that was loaded with big bass until the seals showed up. The seals were all there today and not a bass around. From there we ran behind land breaks to get out of the building east chop and found a school of bass over the flats in a few feet of water along a channel. 18 striped bass later, the bite finally shut down and we headed in.
Total catch today was 25 fish, including 18 striped bass, one of them a 32″ inch keeper, and seven big blues.
Stay posted: Fish are moving south fast…
