Winds & No Fish, Day 2:
We are in a wind pattern right now wreaking havoc on bait & bass migration in our bay. Two days have been almost no fish and winds blew North this morning with the flag straight out. One of two more days of it, and then we will get into a more typical late May spring weather pattern with favorable winds. The best winds to fish our bay are a light southerly or light westerly, with a light SW or light north as third and fourth choice, E and NE are the death kiss as most anglers around here know. And a strong SW, NW or N are just pain miserable on our bay.
So, we remain hopeful and wait it out. Can’t control the weather, the wind or the fish, we can only react to it. I have had to reschedule two trips already. Hopefully this is not a pattern.
Back at it tomorrow in a questionable SW. Tides are ten feet and low at 9:18am. We plan to fish the dropping and then pick up an hour or so of the incoming. My late friend and state record holder, Tony Stetzko, always said a strong SW was one of the best on the Cape for big bass from the surf. Boston harbor had 40″ inchers on Monday. Let’s hope we see some great fishing in our bays on Plymouth, Duxbury and Kingston very soon. We had two very good days in May so far… STAY POSTED:
