Season’s Greetings From BAYMEN!
Christmas greetings from Capt. Dave & The Baymen! I hope you are having a wonderful fall as we began to ease into winter.
We got one buck in camp this fall up in the north country. Glorious days in the woods and mountains. Closer to home on the bay, I have a couple friends that are still getting striped bass in local waters on the South Shore and Cape! That is amazing considering we are into December. I have not gone back out since my guide season ended. But I plan to…!
This year has been wonderful as well as sad and difficult. As you may know, my mother passed away July 22 and each day is different from all other days of my past. My father passed away several years back, as did my sister. I also lost several aunts in a short time span. And this past week, I had to put down my dog of 15 years, my sweet beagle, Daisy-Mae, that you may have seen on this site and in my videos. But God is great and if you have faith and pray for strength he will give it to you freely and abundantly, if you ask him and trust him.
The 2022 season for striped bass has been booking up at a brisk pace. I still have dates available for August and September and early October. Fly Fishing & Light Tackle on the MA coast. I offer both boat trips and guided shoreline trips for 1-3 anglers. 2023 is also booking well. Don’t wait to lock in dates for the future. Let’s get them on the calendar now.I have been guiding full-time for 29 years on the bay and many dates book 1-2 years in advance.
OTHER STUFF – I have been cleaning up my office and getting ready for fly tying over the winter months (stay tuned for new videos). I have also added a few new fly rods to my passion for this wonderful sport. I reorganized my trout vest and am reorganizing my saltwater fly fishing gear as we speak. Can not wait to guide you to striped bass in 2022!
On the Light Tackle front, I have added a few new TFO rods and some brand new Okuma spinning reels with new wonder braided lines, leaders, hardware, etc. I have also retired a ton of my hard body lures and hung them on the wall of my office. I will post a photo and video of this collection soon… It is impressive! If you have fished light tackle with me over the past years, you know how good it can be. 2022 is going to be amazing!
NEW YOUTUBE SHOW – BAYMEN FISHING – I am seriously starting to wade back into being in front of the camera and producing a youtube video series on striped bass fishing on the MA coast. It is a TON of work to do a serious production, especially the final cuts and editing to put together and entertaining and education show each week or two. If you are a top post production editor and would like to get involved in this project, shoot me an e-mail with your reel.
Yesterday,, the Admiral and I and Big Dog, our golden retriever, cut down the annul Christmas tree for the Baymen household. The Christmas decorating has begun, Christmas cookies are being baked, presents are being wrapped, and cords of firewood are filling up the garage. The fragrant scent of Wood smoke is in the air each day and it is a beautiful time of year. There is much I am thankful to God for this Christmas. Strength, peace, and the savior Jesus who forgives us of our sins and offers us eternal life. Many will be missing at our table this Christmas, but I know in my heart they are safe and at home with the Lord. Please give Daisy some extra treats for me and tell her I miss her.
Marry Christmas from our house to yours.
Sincerely,
Capt. David Bitters, BAYMEN, www.baymenlife.com 29 Years Guiding The Bay
