43 Fish
On board today, Gary Condon, CEO, Affordable Closet Systems and his friend, Greg, for LT striped bass. Gary & Co. has been fishing with me for many years.
At first light, we found fish stacked on a very fast moving outgoing -1.6 tide. To get down to them, we fished my Baymen Jigs and that did the job. Every drift we were into fish!
At slack low tide, we hit the guzzles with topwater lures in search of some big bass. Nothing in the guzzles but a handful of very tiny bass of 12″ inches or so.
Back out into the bay for the incoming tide. No bait, no birds, no bass. We fished all the way up into Kingston Bay and it was dead. A short time later, Tim Porelle pulled up in his Whaler and offered us a bunch of live macks. We took them and fish all over the bay with them. We hooked up on a couple of short fish and then a couple more on chunks.
Late morning, some fresh fish finally poured into the bay. Not may at all, but a small school that held on some type of tiny baits for about an hour. We set multiple drifts and hooked up on every drift with my Baymen Jigs. (You can buy Baymen Jigs at MGC bait and tackle on route 53 in Hanover).
Total body count caught and released for the morning was 43 striped bass to 27″ inches. Most of the fish had sea lice, and they fought crazy hard on light tackle! They are all wide fish with big shoulders and should be nice keepers in a few more seasons.
Watching the weather. Thunder storms pushing through late this afternoon and tomorrow…
