27 Fish On Fly
On board today, I had regular, Col. Richard Comstock (Ret.) for fly fishing only.
We found a lot of VERY finicky fish and it took us a while to figure it all out. Fish were on topwater, but would take almost nothing. It was a lesson in patience. Then, six little minnows swam by the boat and they were OLIVE & WHITE. Bingo! We switched up at an olive/white Comstock Clouser and it was game on.
Through out the morning we mixed it up and changed flies about fifteen times. We landed a few fish on a popper, but the top two patterns were the Comstock Clouser on an intermediate line, and a BAYMEN Universal on a sinking line.
Total catch and release, 27 striped bass, all on the fly. An absolute blast on a near calm bay. But it was cold! Water temps, 49-50 degrees and average depth was 10 feet.
I have TOMORROW AVAILABLE 5/17/19 for a sunrise charter. Fly Fishing Only. Call or e-mail if you want to go.
Tight Lines!
