25 Largemouth
Switched things up today and left the saltwater tackle behind. My friend, Baymen Moe, loaded up his canoe, we grabbed my freshwater largemouth bass gear, and we were off for a morning of freshwater fishing.
It was a fantastic morning with great action from first light until about 8am. Then the bite shut down.
We had about sixty strikes and boated and released about two dozen largemouth of various sizes, as well as a couple small gators (chain pickerel). I had excellent results with Bobby’s Perfect rubber frog in black with yellow spots. I have fished every frog on the market, as well as several home-made frogs. Bobby’s Perfect is the one I continue to have the best success with and I think it is the soft rubber material it is made out of. It compresses very well with a light bite and the hook sets are consistent, without any modifications.
Baymen Moe had excellent results with a Moss Boss in green with rubber skirt and also a rubber worm worked along the weed edges.
All in all, a lovely morning in freshwater for a change. Looking forward to doing more of it once July gets here with the hot weather.
