25 Fish on Light Tackle
On board today, I had repeat client, Dan Mcgillicuddy, for light tackle striped bass.
At first light, a near high tide and calm seas, light S/SW, but cool and overcast to start, then sunny and warm later in the morning. All in all, a lovely day in the bay!
The fish were in very small bunches and solos scattered all around the bay today. Very little “spring blitz” action and it was more like hunting than fishing. We covered all the bays from Kingston, Duxbury to Plymouth. We found a fish or two in most of my spots with a few spots void of bass to my surprise. It was a really fun morning searching for fish. Dan was a machine and fished non-stop with light tackle for five hours, solo!
Top lures today: Baymen Jigs, Cotton Cordell pencil poppers, and rubber crank baits. We fished cuts, flats, channels, structure and weed beds. It was work but we were relentless and ended the morning with 25 striped bass caught and released. A great way to start the day and weekend with a great client and angler.
Back at it. STAY POSTED: Lots of fish coming our way!
