22 Fish
On board today, I had new clients, Matt and Dan Perkins, from MN and IN, visiting MA for their grandfathers 90th b-day! They took some time out to see the bay and fish striped bass on LT with me.
At first light, winds were light out of the north and soon flirting with East wind. Fishing was typical slow July fishing for most of the morning… Winds turned NE, E and then back to North. But we kept at it and fished non-stop all morning.
We had a lot of “east winders” slap our tackle but not take it. This went off and on all morning. But some fish were cooperative and my charters were relentless. However, most of my top spots were void of striped bass. Water temps were COLD today and the E/NE breeze did not help things.
Towards the end of the morning, we have boated six fish. Then, late morning we ran into a school of topwater striped bass on the dropping tide, in 4-6 fow. They slammed our LT and we boated a bunch. Total catch for the morning was 22 striped bass, all short fish to mid-twenty inches. Not bad for late July. I should note it was quite chilly on the bay, more like late fall weather.
Back at it in search of keeper bass and big blues…
