121 Fish
Today was repeat client. Al Uhler’s charter. Al had to be in NY so he sent anglers Ted and Jeff to take the trip. You may remember my Baymen Report from 2017 when Al, Ted, and Jeff fished with me and set a new BAYMEN Record for most fish caught and released on a Baymen Charter: They landed four-hundred and two (402) striped bass! That record will never be broken on my boat, but today was still pretty good!
At first light, a flat-calm bay on a rising tide. No fish in yesterday’s spot, so we began to run the bay to see what we could see. We found a small school of fish up on the flats and landed our first fish on the morning. From there, we decided to move on, hoping to find a couple acres of bass working bait under birds.
Bingo! We found what we were looking for and it was game on non-stop action all morning. Tons of fish and tons of birds and tons of bait. We used rubber crank baits exclusively in two sizes and two colors. Pearl continues to be the top producer for us, fished with the Baymen Bounce and Cast & Count techniques.
All of today’s fish were schooled bass. No keepers in the mix but we did land a few cocktail blues feeding with them. Total catch and release today was 121 fish for two rods. Pretty amazing morning to break a hundred fish on the bay!
Back at it as the fall run continues. Hoping some big fish show up inside the bay. Stay Posted:
