11 Fish on Fly
On board today, Mr. Dick Bowman for fly fishing striped bass.
At first light, a wisp of SSW wind and high tides. Just gorgeous on the bay.
We found fish right off and landed a few. The bass are very spooky and very selective at the moment and do not hold well. We moved all over the bay hoping to find fish that held tight and let us set drifts. It was hard work and a little frustrating but we kept at it and were relentless.
We fished a white flatwing pattern and also a white Blane Chokolate polar fiber game changer. This fly has a ton of action and we have done well on it this season. Dick has a fly box full.
No seals spotted today and no sharks for many weeks now. All good!
Total catch and release today was 11 hard-earned striped bass. It is slow at the moment with the high pressure system this morning, but that will change as you may have read in my previous reports. The fall run kicks in any day now…
A fun morning on the bay! Back to it. Stay Posted:
