Stripers Stacked!
Greetings from Baymen & Capt. Dave!
On board today, October 17th, my good friend John Ippolito, for light tackle striped bass.
At first light, tons of fish right in the harbor under birds. We could not drive away from them and spent the first hour hooking into fish a stones throw from the dock. So much fun on light tackle and fly gear!
After landing a bunch of bass, we ran just outside and found many large schools of bass on a topwater feed as they head south in the migration. Approaching them slowly, we were able to pull right alongside the bass. There is a TON of bait in the bay and the bass are a little selective. You had to be right in their boils for consistent hook-ups. But hook up we did!
Dead calm, overcast, and a high tide. Absolute perfect conditions and not another boat on the bay. We ended the morning with a ton of fish caught and released, and kept one for the grill. We landed bass all morning on LT and fly gear and drove away from many large schools of bass on the way home.
Today may have been my last trip of the season. Maybe…
