LATEST BAYMEN NEWS…
Greetings from Capt. Dave & Baymen Charters, AKA, The Baymen Life – 27 years guiding my clients to striped bass, blues, turkey, deer, trout, clams…
The 2020 Spring Striped Bass season is looming on the horizon and I am ready to get it going! New rods, reels, tackle, lines are the annual upgrades each winter. This year, we are also re-powering the Baymen Skiff. The hull is in excellent condition but the old Merc you are all so familiar with has breathed it’s last. SIXTEEN-THOUSAND (16,000) hours on the engine since 2004!!! That has to be some kind of Merc record? The secret to get that much out of an outboard two stroke engine: Yamalube Oil and scheduled maintenance twice a season whether it needs it or not.
Spring Turkey season is also looming on the horizon in Vermont. I will be guiding turkey the first week of May before return to the MA coast to start striped bass fishing with fly and light tackle gear in earnest. I will most likely be on the bay in April before turkey season begins, running RECON trips, looking for the first fish of the season. These are short trips for 1-2 anglers, at reduced rates. Call me or e-mail me if you want to be on this list. It is all short-notice but you could get into some of the first migrating fish coming up the coast.
Outside of Baymen life, family life is very, very busy. I am caring for my elderly mother as well helping my three kids prep for college for the fall. Lots of forms, paperwork, blood, sweat and tears! LOL… If you’ve been there, you know what I am talking about. If you are a young buck recently married, start your children’s college funds NOW. A few dollars or a lot of dollars, it all adds up and grows over 18 years. But you have got to do it an get it going today!
BAYMEN NORTH REPORT – Turkey season hunts are available the first week of May. Contact me for details. We have just completed the final wildlife management cut and it will be a bon to wildlife this year as the primary new growth kicks in and creates successional growth to meet the needs of a diversity of wildlife. Logging is the key to wildlife and forest health and longevity. Deer, turkey, ruffed grouse, bear, moose and a whole host of other critters benefit from tiny insects to song birds to raptors to name just a few. Come up north this year to BAYMEN Land North. Contact me for details on all our guided hunts and camp rental opportunities.
Well, that is the word at the moment. Life is very, very busy as I prep for the upcoming guide seasons, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Tight Lines Soon…
