Happy August!
Greetings from Capt. Dave & BAYMEN!
Wow… Where did July go? What a great month it was with gorgeous weather and hot days. More of that, now that we are in the “Dog Days of Summer.” We will see what is on tap for August…
I am still off the bay with torn rotator cuff, doing intensive PT, in the hopes of avoiding surgery. So far, so good. But it does wear on you and I am not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel – yet… Forever optimistic, I am sure I will be turning the corner any day. I have WAY more use of my arm and shoulder than when the injury happened back in June. All In Good Time.
A huge thank you to all of my awesome clients, friends, and fellow BAYMEN during this time! As previously mentioned, not a single charter cancelled or asked for a refund. Not one. Just the opposite. Everyone sending well-wishes, offers to roll their trips into another season, offers to meet me at the dock to help me launch my boat and re-trailer, offers to help me and the Admiral with daily chores at home, other Captains offering to take my charters… On and on, just incredible generosity from so many of you. I am humbled and grateful to all of you. I don’t know what to say except that my world is filled with great anglers and great people. Thank you.
Thanks, too, to everyone sending me photos of their summers on and off the water. I got this pic last night from Jim Barr, who continues to have an epic summer on the bay with fly and light tackle. Nice dinner fish, Jim! This particular bass had RAZOR CLAMS in it’s belly. I have seen this many times over the years and it amazes me that striped bass will swallow these shellfish whole. How do they even do that without injury themselves and how on earth can they digest those shells? The Creator’s amazing design of an amazing fish…
Well, I am hoping to be back on the bay mid-August. I set an optimistic goal of returning August 11th. I am climbing the walls. But the words of the surgeon and my PT rings loud in my ears: “You have to be careful – if you tear this any more, surgery is your only option and recovery takes up to one year…” Slow and steady wins the race.
Catch e’m up!
Sincerely,
Capt. Dave, BAYMEN, baymenlife.com 32 Years Guiding The Bay. Still in Love. Soli Deo Gloria!
