Fishing Update
Greetings fellow Baymen!
The past week has been tough fishing with all the weather we are having. E/NE has been the rule and small fish inside our bay has been the norm this year in general. Today, 9/13, it is pouring rain and we rescheduled our charter. I made an attempt to find fish this am and found a ton of bait inside the bay tight to the shore. Gobbs of it! So, bass will be there on the higher tides if the bait holds and the winds are favorable.
Most of the fish I have been scouting out the past week have not been on the morning tides, but in the afternoon after I have already left the bay. And not on every tide, which makes it difficult. I would venture the best tides (at the moment) are half-tide incoming to maybe half-tide dropping, inside Dux/Ply bay.
I have about a dozen more trips left on my calendar and then we throw the switch and just like that we are into hunting season: Deer, bear, duck, pa’tridge, woodcock, rabbit, and fall turkey. I doing my duck hunting and some deer hunting locally, but more and more I am heading north to guide out of a camp in the Green Mountains of Vermont. So, if you love to hunt, give me a shout for details on some great fall opportunities.
The camp is available for rent, three day stay minimum. It is 3 hours north of Boston on the side of a mountain in a very rural area. Contact me for details if you would like to peep some foliage, go mountain biking, hiking, running, trout fishing, skiiing, ATVing, etc. Lots and lots of opportunities. Not a bad place to unplug for a few days or week. The views and trails are stunning…
Lastly, my 2019 striped bass charter season is 40% booked! Don’t wait to lock in your trips for next season. They will be gone. I am also taking deposits for 2020 trips. That year, as I have been saying, should produce some BIG fish for us in our local waters. All these smaller fish the past few seasons will be coming back and they will be big!
That’s today’s update. Stay Posted: Lots more fishing ahead and then right into hunting season.
Tight Lines,
Capt. Dave
