February Baymen Life
Greetings from Capt. Dave & BAYMEN Charters! Thanks to everyone that is following my BAYMEN Reports this winter. I am way behind but I’ve got excuses!
First up, I have been helping my son get recruited to play basketball at a major college or university. We have traveled (a lot!) and he has played ball at major D1 and D2 schools along the way. I have also written over 4,000 letters on his behalf to coaches around the country. So, BAYMEN Life includes RECRUITING Life for basketball. Got a kid that has amazing talent and skill? Call me!
Second, I am Chair of the committee to Save Ellison’s Gunning Stand – an historical duck blind on the Back River that has cultural and historical significance dating back to 1903. It is a labor of love and I am really in love with this project. It takes a lot of time and effort. Did I mention it takes a lot of time as well?
Third, my oldest just got accepted to Grad School! I like to think I had something to do with that but she gets all the credit ;o) Crazy hard worker, Deans List, etc. So, I have been involved behind the scenes on this effort and it is paying off.
Fourth, I am getting back into TV production and hosting. Things are in the early stages, but I have three shows I am writing and producing. One of them will make it to the networks! So, as you can imagine, this project takes a ton of time and work to get it rolling…
Fifth, my mother is a Saint. She is 92 years old and has given up driving for good this winter. We have her set up in her own apartment and I am now the chief aid. I drive her on her errands and doctor’s appointments, help her get groceries, take her to her workout class (!), take her to her walking destinations (she walks several miles almost daily, all on her own), and check in on her every day. Not a bad way to pay Mom back after all the years she spent doing everything for me growing up.
And then there is BAYMEN Guide Service, Inc! I have been busy with bookings for 2019 and have booked up May, June and July solid. I have some dates still available for August and September and that is it for striped bass and blues on fly or light tackle. Thank you to everyone that has booked with me again for 2019. So many of you are repeat clients and friends that have been fishing with me for 26 years! Hard to believe I have been guiding that long. A big thanks to all of you! The first schoolie will show in our bay on….April 15th this year!
Well, that is the current news and what I am up to this winter. I would love to hear from you. Feel free to shoot me an e-mail or give me a phone call to talk shop or book up a striped bass charter. It will be here before we know it, and I will be ready to put you on the fish!
Tight Lines & Happy Hunting,
Capt. Dave, BAYMEN www.baymenlife.com
