BAYMEN Report #2
I fly fished the river and the bay from shore in two of my spots yesterday, with Lt. Col. Richard “The Machine” Comstock. He was in town for a few days and today is April 15th, and we typically land our first migratory striped bass about now, from shore.
It was great to fish for about three hours in two spots that began to hold some fish around April 15 each year. It felt good to cast and continue to get the kinks out from this past winter. I am happy with my casting but not thrilled if you can relate. (I did not fly fish over the winter anywhere). We ended the day after the sun went down in the SE breeze without a bump…
Today, NOAA is forecasting 30+ knots NE and rain! But as I sit here and type this at 8:30am, it has not yet arrived… But like they taught us in Captain’s School, “listen to the NOAA marine forecast – and believe them”
That’s today’s BAYMEN Report. I hope you have found some early fsh and have landed your first of the season, or will soon…
