115 Fish (!)
Crazy numbers of fish in the bay today in the Fall Run. Dave Mulcahy and Zach Sarro on board from OhDeer.
At first light, our first spot of the morning was void of fish… At out second spot – absolutely stacked up with striped bass! There had to be thousands of fish in this school and we spent the better part of the morning catching and releasing bass and one beautiful, giant Hickory Shad.
It was truly the finest morning of fishing this season. Birds, bait, and bass on the move south in the great migration. The fish held on the bait well and many of them were spitting up peanut bunker.
The bay was flat calm all morning with a whisper of north wind. Tide was almost high at first light and we had cloud cover and a low pressure system the entire morning. Water temps were 66 degrees and the fish were stacked in 7-14 fow. All of our fish were taken on light tackle with single hooks. Total catch and release today: 115 striped bass and 1 Hickory shad. An amazing morning.
