14 Fish
On board today, I had new clients and fly fisherman, Ryan Ross and his friend, Brian, for Fly Fishing Striped Bass.
At first light, sunny, flat calm and low tide rising. A wisp of W/NW. We found several schools of fast moving, skittish striped bass around the bay. We set up some drifts, did some casting lessons on techniques, and it was game on!
It is always a thrill to guide fly rodders to striped bass on the bay. Today was exrtra special because Ryan landed his first ever fish on the fly in one of our first drifts. Both anglers did a great job and hooked up on many fish throughout the morning. We fished several fly patterns including a peanut bunker and surf candy, and then switched over to Baymen Clousers. The bass hit all the flies. We also had many follows.
Total catch and release today was 14 fish. The winds turned ENE at the end of the trip and that shut the bite down.
A great morning on the bay!
