62 Fish
On board today, I had local angler Don Gunster, and his son, Brennan, for light tackle striped bass.
At first light, pouring rain almost had me delay our departure. But Don and Brennan said let’s go for it, and we were all glad we did! The fall run started today with a bang and we had lots of fish, bait and birds coming into the bay on tbe rising tide. We moved around the bay quite a bit and even checked on some past places that held fish last week and last night. those fish were long gone but new fish were in the bay.
We fished all light tackle, single hook rubber crank baits with the cast and count and Baymen Bounce technique to get the hits. It took some work but the bass would take with a faster bounce. Almost all the hits were on the pause or drop.
No sign of seals or GW today. Total catch and release was a whopping 62 striped bass. Not a keeper in the bay but a lot of fun on the light tackle.
