43 Fish on LT
On board today, regulars Frank Harrington and his sons, Frank & Greg for light tackle striped bass.
At first light, calm seas, high tide, and light W wind. Perfect conditions for a lovely morning of fishing.
First stop of the morning was a big flat that held a crazy amount of fish three days ago. Yesterday, there were still a decent amount of fish there and today there was just a few fish that would show for a moment and then disappear. We played that game for a while and searched the area. We got one nice fish before moving on.
Next up we fished a narrow channel along another flat and picked up several fish. From there, we ran south and found a nice bunch of bass on structure on the outgoing tide. We landed many fish in this spot before moving on.
From there, we began to fish small rips in the dropping tide in several places all around the bay. “Micro Structure” as I like to call them. We found a fish or two or three in just about all of the spots and we had several double and triple hook-ups on the light tackle in shallow water. Great fun!
Towards the end of the morning, we worked a few rocks and some more channel edges and drop-offs and found fish on every drift. Our final spot of the morning was on a flat along a cut and it had several fish holding on it.
Total catch and release today was 43 striped bass. All the fish were taken on structure. Very little bird activity and very little topwater. The weather could not have been more perfect and my crew worked non-stop all morning. A gorgeous morning on the bay.
