27 Fish on Fly & LT
Happy Independence Day from Capt. Dave & Baymen Guide Service!
A quick trip this am to kick off the celebrations. We boated 27 fish on fly and light tackle. Some topwater, but mostly on structure. Top fly was my Baymen Universal fly. The bass were ripping it to shreds! Top LT was pearl rubber cranks baits.
On another note: I fished freshwater last evening solo. No camera, no scale, no witnesses…… Just chilling out with the fly rod. Wouldn’t you know that I land the biggest largemouth bass of my life on the fly!!! 22 1/2 inches and estimated at just under 7 pounds!!! A monster LM on my TFO 8WT and a red/white topwater popper. What a fight! So glad I had a 20lb tippet to pull her out of the weeds. She exploded on the topwater popper and immediately ran for the thickest weed bed she could find. It took about five minutes to pull her back up to the surface and to the side of my canoe so I could lip her. Boy, did I wish I had my camera on board! I admired her, gave thanks to God, and set her free. She gave me a big tail slap before swimming off… What a fish!!!
Well, just want to wish you all the very best for a great July 4th from Baymen Land. So thankful to be living in the greatest county in the world. I know and understand it came at a very dear price. Thank you to all soldiers past and present, including my Dad.
Sincerely,
Capt. David Bitters, BAYMEN, baymenlife.com
