26 Fish on LT
Greetings from BAYMEN Charters!
On board today, Mark Davidson and his wife and son from Vermont, for light tackle striped bass.
Mark and his son, Gabe, turkey hunted with me in Vermont a few season’s back and it was great to have them and Mark’s wife on board today for striped bass.
At first light, calm seas and a half-tide dropping. We headed for the first spot of the morning and found striped bass and birds working bait up on the flats in 2-3 fow on the falling tide. We got right into them and began to hook up. As the tide continued to drop, we had to get off the flats for fear of getting grounded.
Next up, we began to fish some rips and bars that were setting up near low tide. We hooked a couple fish, but for the most part, these areas held no fish today. So we tried two more rips and they, too, were void of bass.
Onward into Plymouth waters. We fished several drop-offs and marked a couple nice bass, I think we landed one fish and then moved on to a new area.
Still in plymouth, we fished low tide flats and cuts that were void of bass. Then, across a huge flat, I saw birds and bass working bait in 2 fow! We had to make a big circle around them to find a deep enough cut that allowed us to get to them up on the shallow flats. We got into them and landed a bunch! After those fish moved on, we took a quick ride to see the Mayflower up close and personal for a few pics. Amazing to even be looking at the history of America that started right here in our bay………
Back in Duxbury, we hit two more spots. A structure spot and then a deep cut with flats that had more bass and birds working bait. We got into them good and got many drifts. We also marked four BIG fish in deeper water but could not get them to take our tackle. Needles in haystacks when there were only 4 fish and miles of water…
We landed bass today to 27 1/2″ inches. No keepers. Water temps were high 60’s and the second part of the morning was hot and sunny. Total catch and release today was 26 fish. A classic summer morning on the bay!
Back at it. STAY POSTED:
