25 Fish on LT
On board today, I had new clients, Bob Crooker and his daughter, Holly, for light tackle striped bass.
At first light, we found fish stacked up on the bottom in about 7-15 fow. We threw rubber cranks on top of them and hooked up on every drift! Nice, fat bass up to 26 inches. We fished this drop-off through the low tide and then the bite shut down.
We began moving around the bay to try some bars, weedbeds and rock piles and found a fish or two in every spot. As the tide turned, we had a large school of bass come into the bay hugging the bottom in 20-40 fow. We tried a Baymen Jig to get down deep but no hits. Then fish began to come back up to the surface and we switched up to poppers and got some explosive hits on topwater!
A lovely morning with Bob and his daughter, Holly, even though it was a bit chilly out there for June. We ended the morning with 25 striped bass landed and released. Top tackle were 4″ rubber crank baits, a Cotton Cordell red/white popper with my custom bucktail tied in on the rear hook, and a Needle Eel Darter also rigged with my custom bucktail.
A fun morning on the bay! Great job, guys! #snowcheezit
