18 Bass & Blues
On board today, I had repeat client, Dwight Pierce with business clients, Jeff and Brad, for light tackle striped bass and blues.
Yesterday’s fish were long gone, moving south as the fall run continues. But we found enough fish to keep us busy up on the flats. We fished first light with topwater poppers and boated 13 stripers to 26″ inches in skinny water.
Next, we decided to make the run the power plant in search of chopper blues! We found them in 35 fow and teased them up with big poppers and rattlers on wire. Some of them were massive and the surface hits were explosive! One BIG blue of about 36″ inches spooled the light tackle and we actually had to back the boat down on the fish. They fight so hard!
After blues, we ran back into the bay in search of striped bass on the low tide. The bay was almost void of fish (what a difference from a day or two ago!). We picked up one final bass up on the flats.
Total catch today was 18 stripers and blues. An absolute blast no light tackle!
Stay posted: Hoping some fresh fish arrive in the bay on the morning tide…
