15 Fish
Yesterday, I had repeat client, Jack Manly & Co. on board, along with Andrew and Anthony for light tackle striped bass fishing. Jack and crew have been fishing with me for four years.
We left the dock at low tide on an east wind. NOAA was calling for East 14 knots, but my prayers were answered and we had mostly calm seas until the last hour of the trip.
The rising tide brought a handful of fish into the bay on the light easterly. The spots that held fish yesterday, were void of fish today. We moved around a lot, seaching and hoping to find bait and bass on the sonar. It was slim pickens but the boys kept at it and we ended the day with 15 fish boated and released. Our best fish of the morning, a 25″ inch chunker, came out of the Blue Fish River.
Late last night, a bunch of bass came into the bay, into sheltered coves. Daniel Putnam and Stephen Stepanian ventured out in the darkness and boated about a dozen fish, including one big fish about 35 inches long.
We are off the bay today with the heavy rains strong NE winds in the forecast. Watch the weather if you are heading out!
Tight Lines,
Capt. Dave
