117 Fish! Classic Fall Blitz 9/1/2021
On board today, I had The A Team regulars Frank Harrington, along with his sons Brian and Frank, and their friend Dan Linker, for light tackle striped bass.
At first light, high tide, low pressure system, overcast, light W wind, and water temps 69-72. And tons of fish and bait working under birds all around the bay.
Today was a classic Fall Blitz with migrating striped bass stopping in our bay to bulk up on peanut bunker before continuing south. Lots of 2″ inch bait and lots of birds picking off the bait from above while the bass feasted below. Today some of the bass were NOT on a selective feed and slammed eight different styles and sizes of rubber crank baits. Other schools of fish, however, were still ON a selective feed and would take almost nothing.
We had many double, triple, and quadruple hook-ups on the light tackle and some amazing fights on the light tackle. We also got into a small school of blues for a short time and also landed a fluke. Other than that, it was solid bass the entire trip.
We ended the morning with our second highest catch and release day this season with a whopping 117 fish! The first highest catch and release day was also a Frank Harrington charter back in June when they landed 121 fish! World-class striped bass fishing.
