105 Fish on Fly & LT

On board today, Paul Clark and Crew from Guernsey, for Fly & LIght Tackle Striped Bass!
At first light, a stunning sunrise, rising tide, light West wind, and water temps 68. 8 degrees at the dock. And lots of striped bass passing through our bay in the fall run.
First spot of the morning and it was game on at first light. Bass had bait stacked up against the shoreline with no place to go. We literally set drifts until we were bumping the shoreline, and still catching fish in a foot of water! The West wind pushed us along faster than I wanted but the fish didn’t seem to mind. We worked that school of fish for two hours and it was bass, birds and bait non-stop.
Next spot of the morning, we ran about three miles and pulled into our second school of bass. A much smaller school of fish, but still great action and a lighter wind. Birds, bait and bass all on topwater. We boated several more fish until the school moved on.
Our third and last school of the morning was almost as good as the first. We ran about 2 miles and found bass, birds and bait tight to the shore, in only a few feet of water. It was non-stop action and we began to realize we were closing in on boating and releasing a whopping 100 fish! We landed a few medium size bluefish with the bass, but it was 99% all striped bass.

Fifty-cent peanut bunker was the prime bait today. They were a perfect match to pearl rubber crank baits for LT and a holy Baymen for the top fly pattern. They absolutely crushed it.
By the end of the morning my crew from Guernsey boated and released 105 striped bass! This is only the 20th time in my 26 years of guiding, that a Baymen Charters crew hit the 100 fish mark with me. We have come close many, many times over the years, but today was exceptional. So, Paul Clark & Crew go into The Baymen Charters Record Books and join nineteen other charters from the past twenty-six years, that have broke the 100 fish mark with me. Congrats, guys. Well done!
