106 Fish
What a morning! On board today, I had regulars, Chris & Molly DeVillers, for light tackle striped bass.
At first light, near calm conditions with overcast skies and a rising tide. We fished three main schools of fish for the morning and got striped bass, several medium blues, a giant hickory shad, and a sea gull! The bird got tangled in our lines and we untangled him and released him and he flew off. The shad was quite a surprise and we could not get over the size of it.
Lots of fish inside the bay on today’s tide that will be in Buzzards Bay tomorrow. More fish should be arriving behind them. We saw the most blues today that we have seen all season. They were decent size but not giants. They are mixed in with the striped bass.
No seals seen and no Great Whites. There was a GW a few evenings ago just off the tip of Long Beach. They filter in and out of the bay unnoticed unless they come to the surface.
Total catch and release today, a whopping 106 fish in the Fall Run!
