78 Fish on Fly & LT
On board today, I had new client, Connor White & crew, down from Maine for fly and LT striped bass.
Flat-calm and light North wind today. Dropping tide then incoming. A perfect morning on the bay. We found fish in every single spot we fished except one. We got to fish some new water that I had not fished yet this year and the fish were stacked up. It was “striper bones” bonefishing in the shallows and so much fun. Three feet of water, all sight fishing.
We also found fish in deep water outside, chasing down outr fly and LT tackle, swimming with a few schools of pogies. No blues, no bass touching the pogies. We also saw many harbor seals and gray seals at Gurnet resting on the rocks.
Just a perfect summer morning on the bay with a beautiful sunrise. Water temps in the mid-sixties and very few boats on the bay. No sign of Charile or GW.
Total catch and release today: 78 striped bass on fly and LT. Top flies were my Baymen Universal, Holy Baymen, and Chart/White fur strip clouser tied by Mike Rice of Mud Dog Salwater Flies. For LT, the top tackle was my Baymen Jig in 1 oz, and rubber crank baits in pearl, white, and bunker.
