Greetings Anglers,

We got out yesterday but today and the next few days do not look like good fishing/boating weather. Today, we rescheduled due to 2-4 foot chop and rain. But I did cruise the bay by 4WD in search of fish. The bay was dead. The ocean, however, had small bass and small bonito tight to shore at the first crossover and at High Pines. The fish had the bait pinned right up against the sand and waves were washing bait onto the sand as a hundred gulls waited to grab it. Fish were busting a few feet from the shoreline. The barrier beach was blocking the SW wind. Even though it was cranking over the dunes on the bay, it was near calm tight to shore on the ocean side. These were all very small fish that would be great action on fly or ultra-light tackle.
