Welcome to a new page at Baymen Charters, Soli Deo Gloria – Latin for “Glory To God Alone.”  Many of you know me as a lifelong hunter, angler, and outdoorsman, but I am also a lifelong man of faith. My goal for this page is to share the Holy Bible and it’s message and life lessons for all. Faith is a glorious journey through life without end for all who believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. This is the essence of the Christian faith. May God bless you on your journey to find faith in him.

Sincerely,

Capt. David Bitters

March 5 – Lent

God bless all those participating in lent. It is my prayer that it leads all to repentance, prayer, and salvation through Jesus Christ, Son of God, The Sacrificial Lamb, The Risen Savior, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
John 14: 1-4 The Holy Bible

And the sea began to be stirred up because a strong wind was blowing. When therefore they had rowed about three or four miles, they beheld Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near to the boat; and they were frightened. But He said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” – John 6: 18-19 The Holy Bible

Life lessons from the Holy Bible: “For you clean the outside of the cup and of the dish and it appears clean, but the inside is still dirty.” Jesus, Son of God Matthew 23: 25-26.

There are 66 books in the Holy Bible, 27 books in the New Testament. 23 of them are letters written from someone, to someone. All scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training (2 Timothy 3:16-18) which most of us have forgotten. But it got me to thinking how we rarely write letters any more in our modern times. The cell phone, internet, e-mails and texting (I am so glad I did not grow up with them) have replaced the hand-written letter, and that is a shame. So, today I am thankful to God and His Holy Scriptures and the letters that tell us Heaven and earth will pass away but God’s word will never pass away. That is a great comfort. I hope every once in a while, you still turn off everything and sit quietly with your thoughts, pen in hand and a blank sheet of paper before you, and write a love letter. From someone to someone, that really needs to hear from you.

“It is impossible to complain and trust God at the same time”
– Richard Ellis
For someone like myself with a photographic memory and a PhD thought process, a statement like this can mess up my whole day or even a full week LOL… What it does is drive me deeper into the Holy Scriptures, faith, and prayer. A simple statement giving me much to ponder and to get to the very core of truth. I have come to the conclusion that the secret of life is just three words: To Know God. That is what I am thinking about today while I clean and prep Fly & light tackle gear for the upcoming striped bass season.

“Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.” – The Holy Bible, Hebrews 4:14-16

Experiences with Almighty God need to be applied to everyday life, always remembered with a thankful heart back to God. Otherwise they can become forgotten experiences; moments in time when God blessed us with His grace, mercy, and love, and then forgotten by us. I write them down and I repeat them back to God often, in my prayers and petitions with thanksgiving and supplication – because I never want to forget how much God loves me. In The Holy Bible, in the book of MATTHEW, Chapter 22, verse 36-38 (New American Standard Translation) these words are written: “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And He said to him, “YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.” “This is the great and foremost commandment.”

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgements and unfathomable His ways! For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, OR WHO BECAME HIS COUNSELOR? Or, WHO HAS FIRST GIVEN TO HIM THAT IT MIGHT BE PAID BACK TO HIM AGAIN? For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen. – Saint Paul The Apostle.

“Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it at all.” – Jesus Christ, Savior, Son of God.
Recorded by Luke, physician and follower of Jesus, in his Gospel found in the New Testament of the Holy Bible. Luke 18:15-17. An interesting note is that Luke never met or saw Jesus, personally, but he still put his faith in Jesus for salvation and eternal life, based on the testimony of others and what was written in the Word of God. I believe.

I awoke in the middle of the night and God was clearly speaking to me. There are two roads we can travel in life. There is still time to change the one you’re on, but don’t delay. As my Dad used to say, “when your time’s up, your time’s up.” The Holy Bible says there is a wide road that leads to eternal destruction and many will find and follow it their whole lives. But there is another road, the narrow road that the King and Savior, Jesus Christ walks, and few will find it. That road leads to Paradise with our Father in heaven, and Jesus will walk with you on that road every hour of every day, and then present you to the Father, if you believe. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: No man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6 The Holy Bible, King James Version.
